Everything You Need To Know About The Chanel Cruise 24C Launch

It’s time - the Chanel Cruise Collection is coming.

Our sources have confirmed that we can expect 24C to launch November 15th. For now, let’s recap the show, and jump into bags we can expect to see.
We first saw Chanel’s Cruise Collection (24C) showcased at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles back in May, right at the height of the Barbie-buzz. With the upcoming launch of this collection in November it’s clear that Barbie-core is not behind us yet.
As we saw in May, the collection invited us to take a walk down memory lane with strong references to the L.A. fashion scene of the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. Starting with monochromatic leg warmers and activewear reminiscent of the ‘80s, the collection stepped into more color as the show continued, coming full circle to an old Hollywood Glam vibe in neutral tones. The collection fully embodied the carefree Los Angeles vibe with it’s bright colors and more relaxed tailoring.
While the classic Chanel tweed was not missing from the show, it’s clear that Chanel’s new creative director Virginie Viard tailored this year’s Cruise Collection towards the new, younger, generation of Chanel customers. While the collection was fresh, fun, and exciting it is still incomparable from the iconic 90s runway fashion designed by Karl Lagerfield during his time as creative director at Chanel.
Here are some of our favorite looks from the show:

If RTW is not your thing, we know bags are. So let’s jump into the bags we can expect to see in this November’s launch.
In the handbag department we saw tons of metallics, bright colors, sequins, embellishments, and mini bags. If you are not into these things this collection is definitely not for you.
Even the Classic Flaps were not so classic, seen in metallic tones with matching hardware it’s definitely not your Lambskin Black with GHW type of collection.
One of our most anticipated bags is the new rival to the heart bag, the Chanel Star bag. It was shown at the show in both a purse charm size and handbag size, with two the Chanel CC logo on the front. We only saw the full sized handbag showcased in hot pink and metallic gold at the show, however, pictures of other colors including black, white, light pink, and blue have been seen across social media.

Some of the most unique bags we can expect to see in this launch are the Volkswagen Bus inspired bag that comes equipped it’s own miniature surfboard - our personal favorite of the four shown below. We also saw an extra tiny fuzzy micro bag with gold hardware and pink fur, along with some sequined clutches. Though we are not personally in love with the clutches, we predict the first two bags although small, will make a mighty statement and be highly sought after pieces.

For our tote lovers and all big handbags we should see quite a few of this new bag shown in the first two photos. It almost feels like a remix of the Chanel 22 with a Chanel 19 closure. This new-ish bag was mainly seen in these bright ombre finishes. The classic Chanel Shopping Bag will definitely make an appearance. We’ll be seeing it in both bright punchy solids like the purple we see in the third photo as well as similar ombre selections as the “remixed Chanel 22 bag”.

Last but certainly not least, our beloved Flap bags. The themes for the Flap bags seems to be sequins, matching hardware, thick straps and metallic finishes. Thankfully not all at once. While we have seen the sequin & metallic flaps before and love them for what they are, we are not the biggest fans of the matching hardware versions. A close up, in person look will sway our opinions but for now those are a no from us. We are particularly loving the metallic shades and can’t wait to see those in person as photos never do the Chanel colors justice.

While we are excited for all the unique shapes, new styles and lots and lots of color, we can’t help but feel a sense of uneasiness given the talks of a price hike coming for Chanel in the near future. We’ve seen rumors that a price increase is set to take place in November, though nothing has been confirmed. We just hope that we’re able to get a Star Bag, perhaps another Classic Flap and Volkswagen Bag before we are smacked with another Chanel price hike.
