Is The Dyson Airwrap Really All That?

ETC - ETCETERA

Short Answer: Yes, and here’s why.

The Dyson Airwrap has bombarded our social media feeds and made several top holiday gift lists for the past two years in a row. Commanding that level of attention in this fast paced landscape is rare.

But is the hype worth the $599 price tag? We think so.

Dyson has always been at the forefront of innovation. Whether it’s vacuums or hair tools, they are usually the first to come out with new technology, changing the landscape of the industry and the expectations of consumers.

Their dedication to remaining at the forefront of hair tool technology is impressive. Just last year they announced a plan to invest $500 million in beauty research labs alone. If there is one company that we would trust our hair with, it’s going to be one that’s investing in their technology and consistently working to improve their product line.

Dyson craftsmanship is another reason they get our vote. Not only are their designs beautiful and modern, they are high quality. Opening a new Airwrap feels similar to opening a luxury designer product. We’ve also never had a bad experience with the longevity of other Dyson hair tool products. In fact, our Supersonic hair dryers still work so well we almost felt guilty trading them in for the Airwrap - almost.

Which brings us to the third reason we love the Airwrap, it’s an all-in-one tool when it comes to drying and styling so it replaces the need for both a curling iron and a hair dryer. If you look at the price point of a quality non-Dyson curling iron and hair dryer like the T3 line you’re looking at around $200 per tool, which is essentially the cost of one Airwrap. So while it may seem expensive for a single hair tool, it’s really not. The Airwrap’s ability to replace two hair tools is not only efficient but cost-effective (girl math).

For all our heat loving girls out there with crispy hair - this one’s for you. The fact the Airwrap uses minimal heat is a huge plus in our books. Anything that can get us a fluffy voluminous blowout without frying our hair is something we’re willing back. Heatless curls can look great, but in our experience they do not last the same way that curls done with a heat tool do. Maybe it’s our technique or our hair type but they have never been a fan favorite for us. The Airwrap combines the safety of a heatless curl with the longevity of a curling iron and that’s our fourth reason for loving the Airwrap.

Above the technology, craftsmanship, efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness is it’s ability to get the job done. In our opinion the Airwrap gets 5 stars in this category. It does take a few attempts to get used, we won’t lie. Let’s not pretend that learning to curl your hair with a curling iron didn’t take a few attempts either though. We will say that the learning curve for this tool is far shorter than a regular curling iron though - so if you’re “hair incompetent” like some of us, then this is definitely the tool for you. We promise by the 4th or 5th time using it you will wonder how you ever lived without it.

The reason why we would choose the Dyson over competitor brands really comes down to their technology, craftsmanship, and branding. Other brands may have a comparable product but in our experience, nothing quite performs like a Dyson.
