Pink Friday 2 Sold Out and Nicki Minaj Didn't Even Know

A successful launch with only one teeny tiny problem, they forgot to tell Nicki.

JCPenny was the first to launch the new Pink Friday 2 fragrance and they sold out within 11 minutes. Although this was an incredibly successful launch there was just one problem - no on told Nicki.
It seems there is confusion around which day JCPenny even launched the fragrance. In Nicki’s tweet she discusses having no awareness that her fragrance had already launched. She tweeted “I had no idea. Was informed of nothing. Didn’t get a link to post. just work up one day & boom!” This was posted November 24th at 9:24pm in response to a fan asking if the fragrance was approved by Nicki because she never officially announced the launch. Other articles discussing the launch have suggested that JCPenny launched the fragrance November 26th, two days after this tweet.
While the reason why the fragrance launched without Nicki knowing, and the exact launch date are unclear, the one thing that is clear - none of this stopped the Barbz from making this launch a success.

saw y’all discussing it. Noreen from my fragrance co advised that she’ll be getting back to me w/answers on this right away. Apparently she had no clue either.

The fragrance still remains sold out on JCPenny’s website and has yet to make it’s official launch on Amazon. Based on Nicki’s tweets about the original launch date, the Pink Friday 2 fragrance was supposed to launch on:
Amazon on December 17th
JCPenny on December 26th
Maybe JCPenny wanted to get the jump on Amazon? Speculative thoughts of course.

Since launching, the fragrance has received positive reviews with a 4.8 star rating from the 75 reviews left on JCPenny. On Fragrantica, a perfume encyclopedia, it has received a 4.03 rating so far.
A common opinion on Fragrantica is that the scent reminds people of Chanel N°5. Positive reviewers say that it is a fresh out of the shower, clean scent. The few people who are not a fan of the fragrance describe it as cheap and short-lived, one reviewer said, “reminds me of my Granny. Musty blankets, sea salt and Yardley talcum powder from a floral tin.” 😭 😭
In our opinion, complaining about the longevity of a $49 fragrance is a little out of pocket. We’ve tried a lot of fragrances over the years and the only one that stands out in the longevity category for us is the Louis Vuitton fragrances. Fragrances that score high in the “long lasting” category are typically going to run in that $150-300 price range. Sometimes, you get what you pay for, and at $49 if it can last twice as long as a Victoria’s Secret body spray, it’s done it’s job. We do still love us some Love Spell though (shoutout to our 90s babies).
Overall, we’re glad to see things worked out for Nicki and her premature fragrance launch. We hope for the same buzz, minus the hiccups, with her upcoming album launch, also named Pink Friday 2, on December 8th, 2023.
